5 Ways to find Peace in Stressful Seasons

We are living in crazy times. The world is constantly shifting and it can feel like A LOT.

I know it's hard to walk in joy and peace when everything seems so flipped upside down. I don't know about you, but I personally don't want to be miserable and filled with anxiety and fear day in and day out. You know what? I don't have to be and neither do you.

We have such a great friend in Jesus. He is powerful and He is peace.

Here are a few things you can do to help combat those feelings of fear and anxiety when they come.

1. Speak scripture out loud to yourself. Do this OFTEN. When your feelings start carrying you away, remind them of God's truth.

Hearing God’s word aloud is always a good idea. Speaking scripture resets our brain and takes our focus off of the internal dialogue and onto His truth.

Some scriptures I am speaking are:

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

"I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done." Psalm 118:17

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

2. Listen to worship music. Sing along and worship.

Some of my favorites right now are:

Never Lost.... Elevation Worship
Same God… Elevation Worship
Waymaker.... Leeland
Do it Again... Elevation Worship

3. Get Outside.

I know it can feel like you have no time for anything, but you can get outside. Even if it's just to sit in your yard and read a book, spend 10-20 minutes outside each day.

4. Create some sort of routine.

Staying on some sort of routine will help you feel less anxious. We have to tell our time what to do or it will run away with us. Pick 3-4 things to do each day, For me that is 30 minutes of cleaning, quiet time with Jesus, work time, and preschool activities with the kiddos.

5. Call a life-giving friend.

Don't call a friend that is in the thick of anxiety and gets overwhelmed by all the heaviness in the world right now. That's not your girl for this. Call the friend that is leaning into Jesus; the friend that is positive and looking on the bright side; the friend that is still taking intentional steps each day. If you don't have one of those, pray that God would bring you a Kingdom-minded friendship that can spur you on.

You're going to get through this. Lean into Jesus during this time. He will lead you into perfect peace when your mind is fixed on Him.
